West Reading High School opened (1914) in the years following, and the town's largest manufacturer, Narrow Fabric Co., opened. By 1923, the first police station opened, consisting of one police officer. Through the mid-1900s, West Reading continued to develop and became the largest borough in the county. In the latter 1900s, the Main Street project was planned for revitalization allowing for more neighborhood progression.
