About Edgmont

Edgmont is a township within Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The semi-rural suburban area was one of the first townships in the state. Established in the late 1680s, its name comes from the ancient royal manor of Edgemond in Shropshire, England, where one of the township's early settlers, Joseph Baker, immigrated from. As of the. 2010 census, the township has a population of 3,987 people and a total area of 9.73 square miles. The neighborhoods that make up the township include Ailee, Fiveormore, Okehocking Hills, Somerhill, Springton Chase and Runnymeade Farms. The main roads that serve the area are Middletown Road, Valley Road, Gradyville Road, Delchester Road, West Chester Pike (Pennsylvania State Road 3), and Providence Road.

Parque Ridley Creek

Parque Ridley Creek is a dreamy event venue in Ridley Creek State Park. The estate was constructed in 1915 by the Jeffords family. They had built an English-Tudor mansion, the Hunting Hill Mansion, around a 1773 stone farmhouse. In 1924, the firm that designed Central Park finished the original landscaping of the grounds. It included:

  • Dramatic stonework
  • Fountain
  • Pool
  • Croquet field
  • Tennis court
  • Greenhouse

Today, the property has been renovated to include a stone mansion, a ballroom, fountains, formal gardens, flagstone patios, stone walls and stairs, a green tennis yard, a reflecting pond, manicured lawns and more. The venue is the perfect weekend getaway, photoshop backdrop, and wedding or ceremony space. Managed by Peachtree Catering since 2016, its proceeds from event rentals go to the upkeep of the mansion and grounds. Parque Ridley Creek is open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Okehocking Preserve

Okehocking Preserve is 180 acres of land containing meadows, wetlands, mature woods, and the Ridley Creek riparian areas. Protected against commercial and residential development by the Willistown Conservation Trust's conservation easement, it offers passive recreation for residents and visitors of Edgmont and its surrounding areas. Seven miles of wooded natural surface trails are also available for you to utilize.

The preserve is 155 acres of the original 500-acre land grant given to the Okehocking band of the Lenni Lenape Indians by William Penn. This was the American colonies' first Native American land grant. Named after the Okehocking group, the preserve was later acquired by the Willistown Conservation Trust.

  • A multipurpose field
