Westgate Hills

The community of Westgate Hills is situated in the northern region of Bethlehem in Northhampton County, Pennsylvania. Neighboring towns include Hanover, Midway Manor, Fountain Hill, and Allentown. Jacksonville Road and Schoenersville Road intersect in the southern region of the neighborhood. The small community falls within the ZIP code 18017. 

History

Many different tribes of indigenous peoples once inhabited the region. Some of these included the Algonquian-speaking Lenape Native Americans. This nation consisted of three main divisions referenced by their dialects:

• the Unami,
• the Unalachtigo
• the Munsee

After the arrival of the Europeans, the natives took up trade with the Dutch colonist and later with the English. As many as 500 acres of the greater area was deeded to William Allen in 1741, and it became a typical Moravian Settlement Congregation. Sawmills and gristmills were established in the late 1700s, and many of the Moravians ministered to the natives. The historic God's Acre cemetery includes graves of those natives that converted to Moravian. 

Neighborhood

The neighborhood borders the Lehigh Valley Health Network Muhlenberg, located on Schoenersville Road. The hospital has been rated number one in the region and offers services that include:
