A Closer Look at Clifton Heights, PA

The car accident lawyers in Clifton Heights, PA, at Justice Guardians present this article to showcase the history of the neighborhood.

Clifton Heights

The borough is situated in the eastern region of Delaware County in the state of Pennsylvania. Some of the main roadways include Baltimore Pike and West Springfield Road, which meet at the center. The community spans 403.2 acres and has an elevation of 157 ft. Nearby neighborhoods include Westbrook Park, Drexel Hill, Briarcliffe, and Aldan.

History

The Lenni-Lenape Indians, also known as the Delaware Indians, were the first to live in the greater area. The Quakers were the next to settle in the area, and they were peaceful with the natives for a while. William Penn once described the natives as "tread[ing] softly and mostly walk[ing] with a lofty chin." Unfortunately, their peace ended in 1755, when the natives retaliated against the Europeans to take back their land.
The area was often called Tin Kettle Hill due to the elevation in some areas. If the watch-out crew saw natives approaching, they alerted the townspeople by drumming on a large kettle. This is thought to have been a tactic used during the Revolutionary War, too.
