Mosser Village is a neighborhood in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Located at the geographical coordinates of 40.6068 degrees north latitude and 75.4447 degrees west longitude, it is in proximity to the communities of Dutch Hill, East Allentown, and Rittersville. Lehigh River bounds the neighborhood on its west and south side. The main roads operating in the area are East Hamilton Street, Hanover Avenue and South Carlisle Street.
Mosser Elementary School is an elementary school serving children in Mosser Village. It has a population of 539 students in grades Kindergarten through 5th. Its student-to-teacher ratio is 15 to 1. Based on state test scores, 27% of its students are proficient in math and 37% are in reading. The public school has a GreatSchools rating of 3 out of 10 and a Niche overall grade of a C minus. Part of the Allentown City School District, it could be found on South Dauphin Street.
Penn Skate is the largest and oldest indoor skatepark in Pennsylvania. Opened 23 years ago, it permits bikes, quad skates, inline skates, skateboards and scooters. The park is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 5 to 9;30 p.m. On Saturdays, it is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. On Sundays, it is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are monthly memberships available at $100 for 30 days unlimited sessions. If you don't want to buy a membership, 4.5 to 5 hour sessions are offered at $15.
Keck Park is a recreational park just off of South Brook Street and East Mosser Street. Catering to residents of Mosser Village and East Allentown, it offers amenities like a baseball field, a football and soccer field, a practice field, two handball courts, and a lighted basketball court. The park also provides a pavilion for relaxation and social gatherings. Managed by the Allentown Department of Parks and Recreation, it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Another park in the Mosser Village neighborhood is Canal Park. Located on the Lehigh River, it is a popular fishing, boat launching, and relaxation spot. There is a 70 person capacity pavilion with two grills available for those who are looking to eat and spend time with friends and families. The recreation area is also connected to the 165-mile multi-use trail, the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, that runs through Northeastern Pennsylvania into Bucks County and Lehigh County. The park, managed by the Allentown Department of Parks and Recreation, works in partnership with Wildlands Conservancy to host popular Bike & Boat trips for visitors to Sand Island in Bethlehem.
