Discovering Halfway House, PA

The car accident injury lawyers in Halfway House, PA, at Justice Guardians present the following details on the neighborhood and all it has to offer its residents.

Halfway House

The census-designated place, or CDP, is situated in Montgomery County in the state of Pennsylvania. It is just north of Pottstown along Route 100. The surrounding communities include Pine Forge, New Hanover, Pottsgrove, and Stowe.

History

Joseph Barnes built the Marvin Creek Hotel in 1859 on a 108-acre plot of land he had purchased from Mr. White. Barnes cut down trees and built the hotel by hand using the fresh wood. Later the area became known as the Halfway House when the hotel became a popular stop for travelers from Olean, NY to Dubois, PA.

In 1927 the house was purchased from John Barnes, Joseph's grandson, by Joseph E. Svain Sr. In 1987, Svain sold the house to Dave LeViere. The hotel had a homelike atmosphere and good food for the visitors. However, when the Barnes family installed a telegraph system in the hotel, many frequented it to use the high-tech device.

The community is home to the Althouse Arboretum, located on Gilbertsville Road. The conservatory consists of 17 acres of open space. The Hilsee Family donated 1.6 acres along with a historic house.
