Aronwold is home to the Newtown Square Historical Society. The society was founded in 1981 when residents of Newtown Township gathered together to organize a celebration of the township's 300th anniversary.

  • Paper Mill House, originally constructed in 1828 and later expanded in 1845. The house was originally home to four families from Darby Creek and today serves as a local museum and 1850s style general store. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
  • Hood Octagonal School House, built in 1842 by James Dunwoody. The schoolhouse is still utilized by local students, where volunteers teach about science, math, and penmanship.

The historical society has worked for several years to preserve the rich history in Aronwold. With diligence and hard work, the society was able to open The Square Tavern Museum and Art Center as an outreach program. At the center, visitors can experience the inside of a replicated 1700s tavern. The museum hosts art galleries, special events throughout the year, and art lessons for community members.

Skunk Hollow Park

  • The park spans 93.7 acres and has served the community since the 1970s. Skunk Hollow Park offers residents a serene oasis featuring nature trails, a pond, and access to fishing.

Aronimink Golf Club

  • The private golf club has been in existence since 1900 when members of the Belmont Cricket Club incorporated themselves as the Aronimink Golf Club. The club spans 300 acres and has been rated #9 in the top 50 Golf Clubs in America.

Waterloo Mills Preserve

  • The nature reserve is a beloved location by members of Aronwold. The Waterloo Mills Preserve consists of a barn, a wheelwright, a blacksmith's shop, an old grist mill, and two homes. The preserve is utilized by several nearby schools and is frequently explored and beloved by young students.
