Lawndale is a neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The charming neighborhood is located near Rising Sun and Oxford Avenues. Lawndale belongs to ZIP code 19111 and area codes 215, 267, and 445.

The history of Lawndale, PA, traces back to the late 19th century when the area was listed on City and Reading Railroad Maps.

The area was named Lawndale in the 1880s, when the Philadelphia, Newtown, and New York Railroad built lines through the area. However, before its naming in the 1880s, the neighborhood was called Marburg. At the time, the town was considered an industrial area spearheaded by the Marburg Bottling Company. As more people moved to the town for work, the area's residential developments prospered.

For a convenient commute to local businesses, residential construction developed at the intersection of Rising Sun Avenue and Levick Street.

The community consisted of many nonfarming homes, and the oldest building still standing was once Paul Mahle's General Store, the local favorite convenience store, and is now Campbell's Funeral Home.

Lawndale was the known occupier of the Hellerman farm complex, which owned a large portion of the property in Lawndale before the 20th century.

One of the town's signifiers of development was The Lawndale Station, the railroad station constructed for commuters when the town was named. The station has gone through various advancements throughout the years and is still used by SEPTA, running over 350 round trip fares a day.

The town of Lawndale has grown from majorly farmland to an area with various residential buildings. The neighborhood consists of many rowhomes and a mix of single, double, and large estate homes. Due to the diverse residential options, Lawndale continues to be a desirable place to live for many Philadelphians.

Today, along with residential developments, Lawndale consists of many churches, including the Trinity Oxford Church, the oldest church in the area dating back to 1698.
