Even though the petition led to no immediate action, it did begin the process of banning slavery in Pennsylvania.

The Battle of Germantown took place on October 4, 1777, and resulted in 673 lost American soldiers and 575 lost British soldiers. The battle was significant for the American Revolutionary War because the battle contributed to France officially recognizing the Americans leading to an alliance between France and America.

During the yellow fever epidemic in 1793, Germantown was the site of the Deshler-Morris House where George Washington stayed. During his stay, Washington also established the first American bank in United States history in Germantown.

Germantown has remained a significant place in American history and today is considered a desirable place to live in Pennsylvania.
