Hulmeville is a borough in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The borough spans 0.37 square miles and hosts an approximate population of 1,003 with a population density of 2,806.18 per square mile. Hulmeville belongs to ZIP code 19047 and area codes 215, 267, and 445.


The original settlers of Hulmeville were the Hulme family, of Norweigan descendent. George Hulme and George Hulme Jr. moved to the area and purchased a large portion of land in 1700.

Within a few years, the town developed and constructed several mills, dwellings, and shops. John Jr., one of the towns' first inhabitants, became a significant business owner and miller in the area. In 1809, John Quincy III, a United States political figure and educator, stayed in one of John Jr.'s homes.

John Jr. aided the start of the Milford post office, established on October 1, 1809, while serving a term in the Philadelphia General Assembly. Within the same year, the village's name was officially deemed Hulmeville.

Hulmeville Historic District

Today, Hulmeville is the site of a historic district. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 and consists of 103 contributing buildings, 3 structures, and 1 project.

Many of the contributing buildings within the district are designed in the Greek Revival, Federal, and Late Victorian styles.

The most notable contribution buildings include the Edward Hick's House, Hulmeville Borough Hall, Silas Barkley Mill, the Episcopal Church, and the John Hulme House.
