History

Chestnut Hill originally belonged to the German Township founded by Francis Daniel Pastorius. During the American Revolutionary War, Chestnut Hills retained its reputation as an affluent neighborhood and was a known vacation destination. Some notable contributing structures include the Inglewood Cottage, Esherick House, and Graver's Lane Station. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 20, 1985.

Anglecot

  • Also referred to as the Potter Residence, the building built in 1883 spans 1 acre. The building was designed by Wilson Eyre and functioned as a sanatorium in the 1970s. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 19, 1982.

Jenks Academy for the Arts and Sciences

  • The public elementary and middle school (grades K-8) hosts an approximate student population of 600. The school building was built in 1922 and designed by Irwin T. Catherine in the Late Gothic and Tudor Revival styles. The school building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
