Roselyn is a community in Abington Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The community is bordered by Willow Manor, Ardsley, and Abington. Roslyn belongs to zip code 19001 and area codes 215, 267, and 445.

History

The community of Roselyn was originally named Hillside and later renamed Roslyn after the well-known neighborhood rose gardens.

The land occupying modern-day Roselyn was originally home to the Lenni Lenape Indians until European settlers arrived. John Tyson was the first known European settler to live in the area when he bought a large tract of land in 1717.

Tyson was a fundamental figure in the town's development. He is still remembered today for building lime kilns to turn the local limestone into quicklime. From his discovery, Tyson built an industry that operated in Roslyn up until the late 20th century.

A significant change in Rosyln occurred in 1873 when the first rail connection was brought to Roslyn by the Northeast Pennsylvania Railroad.

The railroad station brought increased foot traffic to the area and is one of the reasons Roslyn is a developed town today. The original railroad station was replaced in the late 1970s.

Today, you can find the railroad station at the intersection of Susquehanna Road and Easton Road.
