Catasauqua is home to two neighborhoods listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1900, Catasauqua hosted 5,000 residents and had the highest percentage of self-made millionaires of any town in the United States. By 1917, Catasauqua became the first community in the United States to raise $1 million in war bonds, earning it the nickname "The Million Dollar Town."

Catasauqua became an incorporated village in 1854 and celebrated its 150th anniversary of incorporation in 2004. In July 2014, the town celebrated its 100th anniversary of the old home week celebration in 1914. The original old home week marked the 75th anniversary of the Lehigh Valley Crane Iron Works.

Geography

The neighborhood of West Catasauqua is directly across the Lehigh River, a 109 mile long tributary of Deleware River, and is at the mouth of Catasauqua Creek, which is the site of the first successful anthracite iron-producing North American blast furnaces of 1839.

The neighborhood of West Catasauqua is connected to Catasauqua by two bridges known as Pine Street and Race Street, with most of the residential area located in a triangle-shaped area in the south-eastern part of the village.

The neighborhood staple, West Catasauqua Playground, is located in the heart of the village along Pine Street. Within the village limits also stands The West Catasauqua Fire Company and the Cetronia Ambulance Corps station. Along with the charming playground and public services, West Catasauqua is also home to two gasoline and oil "tank farms".
