Ludwigs Corner is a charming residential area in Pennsylvania. The area is home to several notable historical locations that reflect the longstanding history of the community.
One of the earliest landmarks in the town is the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. The church was originally planned in 1832 when members of the community gathered to discuss the opening of a worship center in the town. Community members gathered at the home of Jacob Ludwig to plan the founding of a church to bring together the branches of Christianity, including Baptists and Lutherans.
Eventually, the community members decided to open an Episcopal church. In a short time span, the congregation was granted land to open the St. Andres Church only a year later. The church saw a decline during the late 1830s and closed shortly thereafter. The church later reopened in 1866 but was closed once again.
In 1950, residents of Ludwig Corner petitioned to reopen the church. With small donations from 15 families in Ludwigs Corner, the episcopal church was able to open its doors once again by 1953. Since the mid-1900s, the church has continued to thrive and remains a beloved church now lead by Reverend Tommy Thompson.
Ludwigs Corner has long been known for its annual horse show and county fair during Labor Day weekend. The tradition began in 1943 when Ludwigs Corner was strictly rural, and a group of homeowners with horses decided to host a show on Labor Day weekend to gather community members and celebrate.
The tradition continued, and by 1947, the horse show grew in popularity. By 1948, the show purchased 18 acres of land known as the McBride property. Today, the Ludwigs Corner Show owns 33 acres of land, and the grounds were even chosen as the site of the “Citadel Country Spirit USA."
The annual 3-day show and county fair has become an awaited event every year visited by locals and residents of neighboring towns.
