The workers' compensation lawyers in Levittown, PA, present this article to share some detailed information about the neighborhood.

Levittown is a census-designated place (CDP) and planned community in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The total area spans 10.2 square miles and falls within ZIP codes 19057-19058, 19054, 19057, and 19055. The community was designated as a Pennsylvania Historical Marker on August 8, 2017.

Levittown was built on land purchased in 1951. Levitt and Sons, an American real estate development company, founded by William Levitt, only built six models of houses in Levittown.

All the homes were single-family dwellings with lawns: the Levittowner, the Rancher, the Jubilee, the Pennsylvanian, the Colonial, and the Country Clubber. Each model had modest exterior variations and was moderately priced, requiring only a low down payment.

The official construction of Levittown began in February 1952, after the completion of Levittown, New York, located on Long Island. Levittown, Pennsylvania, was the second "Levittown" built by William J. Levitt, who is often credited as the creator of the modern American suburb.

Levitt & Sons created a 26-step rationalized building method that was an assembly line type of homebuilding to construct Levittown as quickly as possible.

The method kept the house remained stationary, while the construction workers moved from house to house. Each construction worker was given one task: pouring slabs, framing, installing electric sockets, or installing washing machines.

The highly regimented process allowed Levitt's workers to produce a finished house every 16 minutes. Construction of the homes began in 1952, and when completed in 1958, 17,311 homes were built.

The Levitt and Sons company built houses at record speeds, but once the homes were opened to the public, the company refused to sell to African Americans.

However, Bea and Lew Wechsler, a Jewish couple from the Bronx, connected with an African-American family to a neighbor selling his home.

In 1957, Levittown became home to its first African American residents, William and Daisy Myers. Their arrival was met with racist harassment and mobs that continued for months until state authorities intervened.

The intervention led to an injunction and criminal charges against the harassers, and Daisy Miller wrote and published a book about her experience. She has since been referred to as "The Rosa Parks of the North."
