Garnet Valley is an unincorporated community in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and has recently received its own ZIP code as of July 1, 2009, a few years after the name was created to distinguish a certain neighborhood associated with the Garnet Valley School District.
In 2006, the United States Postal Service allowed the community within a certain zip code to be removed from their current default city name of Marcus Hook to its own name, "Garnet Valley," along with a new corresponding ZIP code.

William John Clifton Haley, also known as Billy Haley, was a rock and roll pioneer who spent most of his childhood in a small house in Garnet Valley and built his home near it in the mid-1950s. A house on Foulk Road that he named "Melody Manor" remains associated with his last name Haley, since the 1960s.
Jackie Krol, a comedy club actor, spent the majority of his childhood living in his large family home in Garnet Valley. In the mid-2000s, he chose to build his home on Foulk Road, which happens to be near the local prison.
