Mt Airy

The neighborhood is located in Northwest Philadelphia in the state of Pennsylvania. Neighboring towns include Elkins Park, Jenkintown, and Stenton. The Wissahickon Valley Park is less than two miles to the community's east. Germantown Avenue and Mount Pleasant Avenue intersect in the center of the neighborhood. 

History

One of the first prominent residents was William Allen, a Philadelphia merchant and the Chief Justice of the Province of Pennsylvania. He built his summer estate and mansion in 1750, located on Germantown Avenue near Allens Lane. The town was soon named after the estate.
