Over 100 years ago, 1,000 acres of land was purchased by George Wood in the quiet town of Wawa in Delaware County. The land was purchased to be used as a farmland to feed his herd of Guernsey cows. After his relocation, he established Wawa Dairy and was able to provide fresh, raw milk to the residents in the Philadlephia area.
Several decades later, the youngest daughter of Woods gifted a portion of the land to Natural Lands in 1973 and became known as Wawa Preserve. The second donation of 22 acres was given by the Woods family in 2012, allowing the preserve to expand to what it is today.
