The unincorporated community is located within Abington, Springfield, and Upper Dublin townships in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Its borders are formed by Mt. Carmel Avenue, Chelsea Avenue, Jenkintown Road, and the railroad from Ardsley Train Station. It falls within the ZIP code 19038 and the area codes 215, 267, and 445. 

History

The community was the last of the city's four sides to develop, but its origin dates back to the 1790s. Significant growth in the community came after World War II.

One of the most prominent early landholders was General William Wilkins. He served as the following:

  • US Congressman
  • US Senator
  • Presidential Cabinet Secretary

Wilkins was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1801 after studying law. He eventually served as the United States District Court Judge for the state's Western District for seven years (1824 to 1831). In 1828 he was elected to represent Pennsylvania's 16th Congressional District in the US House of Representatives. However, he resigned before ever holding office. In 1831 he was elected in the United States Senate. He served from 1831 until resigning in 1834 to accept the post of United States Minister to Russia. He held this position from 1834 to 1835 before returning to Pennsylvania to practice law. During the Civil War, he served as a Major General in the Pennsylvania State Home Guard.

Neighborhood

The North Hills Country Club is within the community, just off of Station Avenue. This private country club was founded in 1908. The golf course was constructed over farmland and an old iron quarry in 1914. The property is not only home to an 18-hole course but also has
