Geography

East Lehigh Avenue bounds Olde Richmond to the northeast, the Delaware River, a major river on the Atlantic coast draining 13,539 square miles, to the east, Trenton Avenue to the northwest, and York Street to the southwest.

Even though some consider Frankford Avenue to be the northwestern boundary of the neighborhood, the consensus among residents is that those who live northwest of Trenton Avenue live in Kensington, which is generally considered part of the Philadelphia River Wards.

Transportation

Even though Olde Richmond is a largely residential area, there is still great access to public transportation.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) offers bus routes that easily connect Olde Richmond to Center City, West Philadelphia, South Philadelphia and the Northeast. SEPTA bus routes 15, 25, 39, 43, and 89 services the Olde Richmond community.

With 84.98% of Olde Richmond residents being white-collar workers and 15.02% blue-collar, many residents use public transportation to get to and from work.

Old Richmond is also home to SEPTA Route 15, a surface line trolley running along Girard Avenue and Richmond Street.

The closest transit stops of the Market–Frankford Line, commonly referred to as the "EL" or the "Blue Line," are Spring Garden Station, Girard Station, Berks Station, and York–Dauphin Station.

Even though residents have fantastic access to public transportation, many Olde Richmond residents prefer to commute by car. Luckily, Olde Richmond is conveniently accessible to Interstate 95 by the Girard Avenue exit and is located just north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and south of the Betsy Ross Bridge. The bridge makes parts of south New Jersey easily accessible. Old Richmon is also conveniently accessible to Center City (just one exit off the Vine Street Expressway/Interstate 676), South Philadelphia, and Northeast Philadelphia.
