Port Richmond has long been the hub of Polish culture in Philadelphia, with a large population of both Polish-Americans and recent immigrants from the motherland. The Polish community gives this neighborhood a real charm, including a great selection of Polish restaurants, delis, butchers, and grocery stores. Regardless of where you live in the city, we think all Philly residents should make at least one trip to Port Richmond to try Polish favorites like kielbasa, pierogies, stuffed cabbage, and so many others. Here are some of our Richmond personal injury lawyers' favorite Polish restaurants in Port Richmond:
With so many great Polish restaurants, it's hard to pick our favorite. But the Dinner House is one place we keep coming back to again and again. This small, family-owned restaurant has all of the Polish food favorites you could hope to find. You can even see your meal being made with a view of the kitchen from their small dining room. Dinner House also has very affordable lunch specials if you work in the area and are looking for a cheap but delicious lunch.
Here are some of our favorite dishes at the Dinner House:
As the name implies, Syrenka is a small cafeteria-style luncheonette. Simply walk in, grab a tray and a plate, and choose an entree with a couple of sides. This makes for an extremely filling, hearty, and affordable lunch - coming to under $10 before a drink. Their selection also features a variety of classic Polish foods. Some of our favorites here include:
Make sure to come early if you're hungry, as the kitchen usually closes by 7 or 8. After that, New Wave Cafe is a fun neighborhood bar. While we like to stop in here for a couple of beers, the food is definitely the main draw. All of their dishes are authentic and will leave you feeling full and satisfied.
We like to order the following items from the New Wave Cafe menu:
What started as a neighborhood Polish food cart has recently found a brick-and-mortar location in Bridesburg. Word about Mom-Mom's Kitchen and Polish Food Cart spread fast, and the cart quickly became a neighborhood favorite. That success has led to their permanent location on Orthodox Street. They serve both classic favorites and new creations, such as Philly cheesesteak pierogies.
M & M is a neighborhood mom-and-pop restaurant that has been delighting Port Richmond residents with flavorful Polish food for decades. This is more of a breakfast or lunch spot, as they're only opened from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. But if you're looking for a hearty breakfast in Port Richmond, we highly recommend stopping by M & M Restaurant.
