Morrell Park is a neighborhood in the northeast part of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The area was originally the 300-acre summer home estate of Edward and Louise Morrell. The home was built near what is now Morrell Avenue and Frankford Avenue. The family established the first telephone line north of Frankford, maintained a horse track, entertained extensively, conducted an amusement park called Torresdale Park. After Edward passed away in 1917 and Louise died in 1943, the Korman Corporation began planning for the development of the area in the late 1950s. During the 1960s, many families from other areas of Philadelphia began to settle in Morrell Park.
Today, the neighborhood has a population of 10,066 people and offers a dense suburban area feel. 70% of its residents own their homes. The median value of a home in Morrell Park is $196,065. The median rent price is $1,133. The area is within proximity to the communities of Millbrook, Cresmont Farms, Torresdale, and Andalusia, and Northeast Philadelphia Airport.

Thomas Mitchell Playground is a 6.8-acre site on Whitehall Lane. It was named in honor of Thomas Mitchell, a boy who was killed near the site in 1963. Due to his death, local residents petitioned to create a park where children could safely play. The park offers amenities like sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, a pool, and a playground. There is also a recreational building that hosts many activities and events for the community. The park can be found on Whitehall Lane and is open every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
