Bensalem Township Country Club was established in 1960 as a private course named "Cornwells Golf Club. Before then, the property was an English Estate built around 1741. After it was purchased by local farmer Gus Hansel, the land was used for farming until 1950, when Hansel realized its potential as the Bensalem community grew post-war. Hansel hired award-winning architect William Gordon to design an 18-hole golf course around his farmhouse and barn. In 1984, Hansel passed away, and the country club was acquired by Alber Bader. In 1989, the private golf course was made public. In an attempt to stop possible sales to developers, the Bensalem Council and Many Joseph DiGirolamo worked to purchase the course under fair property value assessments and condemnation rights. In 2006, the country club officially became Bensalem Township Country Club.
Today, the country club has one of the finest 18-hole, par-70 golf courses in the Delaware Valley. It also offers dining halls for social gatherings, business meetings, corporate events and more. It is the perfect venue for weddings, receptions, birthday parties and showers. The country club is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
