The lawyers of personal injury in Hollywood bring you this article. We are thrilled to provide you with informative content on the unincorporated community.

An Account of Hollywood

Hollywood is an unincorporated community within the southern part of the Abington Township of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Well known for its Southern California-style homes, the neighborhood got its start in 1928 when Gustave Weber, a builder from California, filed plans to build the small subdivision. Featuring 174 homes in pastel colors with flat rooms like those of the Spanish-style homes in Los Angeles, the area was also supposed to include Moravian and Southern California tile sidewalks with plants. However, the plants died because of the cold and the tile cracked. Weber never finished the subdivision like how he planned it to be.

In the 1940s, a local developer took it upon themself to finish the development. Streets in the neighborhood were named San Diego, San Gabriel, Pasadena and Los Angeles. The area has been listed as eligible for national registry by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. This allows residents to apply for federal grants to help maintain its historical characters. The community is located close to Jenkintown, Fox Chase, Rockledge and Meadowbrook.

Manor College

Manor College is a private college in Hollywood. Offering associates and bachelor's degrees, it was founded by the Byzantine Ukrainian Sisters of Saint Basil the Great in 1947. In 1959, it was chartered and incorporated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. On June 17, 1964, the State Council of Education Department of Instruction approved the college. Best known for its vet tech and dental hygiene programs, it is home to a Dental Health Center, 50-acre farm and fully operational veterinary laboratories to provide its students hands-on learning experiences. The college offers associate degree programs in 19 fields and bachelor's degree programs in 15 fields.

Ukrainian Education and Cultural Center (UECC)

The Ukrainian Education and Cultural Center (UECC) was founded in 1980 as a non-profit organization in Hollywood. As the focal point of Ukrainian-American cultural life in the Delaware Valley, it was established to promote and preserve awareness of Ukrainian heritage throughout the area. The center houses more than 30 community, scholarly, educational and professional organizations. It is also home to the Ukrainian Library. Educational programs offered at the UECC include a nursery school and a 12-year Saturday School that teaches students the Ukrainian language, history, culture, literature, geography and music. The center's hours of operation are Mondays through Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
