Our personal injury attorneys in Ogden, PA, are happy to sponsor this article on the history of Odgen for others to learn about how the community and township came to be. We hope you enjoy and learn something new.

Odgen Roots

Ogden is located in Upper Chichester Township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Before European settlers claimed Upper Chichester in 1681, the Lenni Lenape Indians occupied the land with multiple villages, hunting areas, and farming.

Upon the Penn Grant of land given by King Charles II, 14 Welsh and Englishmen purchased land from Willian Penn and began building the community. Chichester, previously known as Upper Chichester Township, was named after a town in West Sussex, England, which was the home of where the majority of settlers originated from.

Ogden House

Located a short distance from Ogden is the historic home called Ogden House. The home was constructed in 1736 and boasts three stories with a stone exterior. The historic house has two enormous stone chimneys on either side of the home and well-kept grounds. Ogden House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and remains a tourist stop while driving through the town.
