Belmont Hills is a suburb in Philadelphia of the Lower Merion Township of Pennsylvania. Located in the village of Bala Cynwyd, it is known for its hilly terrain. The name Belmont means "Beautiful Mountain." However, this wasn't always its name. Before the Reading Railroad was built, the area was known as Rocky Hill. Then, it was called West Manayunk until the 1950s, when it was renamed Belmont Hills.

Today, Belmont Hills can be found at the geographical coordinates of 40.0259 degrees north latitude and 75.2370 degrees west longitude. It is bounded by Penn Valley to the west, Narberth to the southwest, Cynwyd to the south and the Schuylkill River to the east and north. The main roads serving the suburb are Conshohocken State Road (Pennsylvania State Road 23), Rocky Hill Road and Schuylkill Expressway.

Belmont Hills Elementary School

Belmont Hills Elementary School began as the Ashland Avenue School. Built in 1919, it offered classes for grades Kindergarten through 8th. In 1952, the school's name was changed to Belmont Hills School. It was closed in June 1982 due to not enough number of students. In 1999, the school was reopened as Belmont Hills Elementary School. It is the 8th best public elementary school in Montgomery County. The top-rated school has a total enrollment of 478 students from grades Kindergarten through fifth. Its student-to-teacher ratio is 11 to 1. Based on state test scores, 83% of its students are proficient in reading and 78% are in math. The public elementary school has an overall Niche grade of an A-plus and a GreatSchools rating of 5 out of 10.
