The car accident attorneys in Parkland, PA, sponsor this article to present a detailed excerpt about the area.
Parkland is a quaint neighborhood in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The neighborhood belongs to ZIP code 19047 and belongs to the Neshaminy School District.
One of Parkland's local historic gems is the Uptown String Band, which was originally founded by members of the community.
The band was organized on February 15, 1937, when the New Years Day Mummers Parade of 1938 needed an act. Spearheaded by Captain Beidman, the band became one of the 16 original string bands to organize the Philadelphia String Band Association.
In 1947, the band performed their new song, "I'm Looking for a Four Leaf Clover," at the 10th-anniversary performance at the New Years Day Parade. Shortly following the performance, fans and Parkland residents took a liking to the song, and the bang recorded it under Krantz, a small record label.
By 1948, the son had over 1 million record sales, and the band's reputation quickly became synonymous with the four-leaf clover symbol. In 1962, member Robert Runkle Jr. became the first member of the Uptown String Band to enter the String Band Hall of Fame. Runkle Jr. continued to lead the string band for four more years until he retired after the band's 26th parade.
In 1976, Anthony Bordoni, another band member, was featured in National Geographic Magazine and was later inducted into the String Band Hall of Fame in 1980.
The Parkland string band continued to perform in the town's annual parades for several years. By 1990, the Harrowgate String Band purchased the charter to the Uptown String Band and joined the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association.
Today, the band is associated with Uptown Hall, a nonprofit corporation and banquet hall supporting the Philadelphia Mummers Parade and serving the Parkland community.
